What Type of Works Can We Do Using Well Temperature, Gamma, and CCL Tool?

What is Well Temperature, Gamma, and CCL?

A-One Oil Well Temperature, Gamma, and CCL Tool (TGC43C) is primarily used for depth correction and leak detection. This tool integrates the parameters of Well Temperature, Gamma, and CCL, it can be combined with other logging tools from our company for use in well logging.

◆ Well Temperature

Measurement Object: The temperature of the fluid inside the wellbore.
Operating Principle: A high-precision platinum resistance thermometer or thermocouple sensor is typically employed to convert temperature variations into changes in electrical resistance or voltage. These signals are transmitted to the surface via a cable and recorded as a temperature profile that varies with depth.

◆ Gamma

Measurement Object: The natural radioactivity of formation rocks.
Operating Principle: Radioactive elements in the formation (such as potassium, uranium, and thorium) undergo spontaneous decay and emit gamma rays. A scintillation counter or similar detector in the tool captures these gamma rays and converts the count rate into a gamma-ray log.

◆ CCL

Measurement Object: Tubing or casing collars.
Operating Principle: The tool contains a permanent magnet and a coil. As the tool passes a collar, the change in metal thickness and geometry alters the magnetic circuit, inducing a voltage pulse in the coil. Each pulse marks the depth of a collar.

The Power of Combination

GR + CCL:It is the standard configuration for logging in casing wells

Working process: First, measure a CCL and gamma curve, then compare this gamma curve with the gamma curve of the open-hole well. At the same time, use CCL for depth control, and the measurement results of the casing well can be precisely matched to the depth and formation of the open-hole well.

The "Temperature + GR + CCL" Combination: the classic set-up for production or injection profiling.

Working process:

Use the GR + CCL pair to fix depth and lock the log to the exact formation tops.

With the depth reference rock-solid, examine the temperature anomalies to pinpoint which zone is giving/injecting fluid and what type of movement is happening.

Using the Temperature, GR and CCL Tool, Which Types of Work You Can Proceed

Using A-One Oil's Well Temperature, Gamma, and CCL Tool (TGC43C), we can proceed below types of works:

 Logging depth correction

CCL is used for precisely controlling logging depth and calibrating the depth positions of curves such as gamma and well temperature.

Water detection, leak detection, and pipe external channel leakage detection

◆ The combination of well temperature and gamma can be used to judge the water layer location, leakage position and external channel diversion of the pipe.

◆ Gamma combined with well temperature and CCL can be used for annular space logging, replacing turbine flowmeters.

Cement Quality & Casing Integrity Evaluation

The combination of CCL, gamma and well temperature, used for detecting the quality of casing couplings, cementing and the integrity of pipe strings

Production Logging Depth Calibration & Sand Layer Identification

The combination of CCL and well temperature, with CCL providing a depth correction reference and well temperature assisting in identifying the temperature rise of high-permeability sand layers

Reservoir Evaluation (Porosity, Water/Oil Content)

Gamma is combined with well temperature and CCL. Gamma estimates the quality of the mud, well temperature reflects the changes in fluid temperature, and CCL ensures that cementing does not affect the flow of the reservoir.

Formation Lithology & Stratigraphic Division

The combination of gamma and well temperature. Gamma providing lithology indicators and well temperature helping to identify injection/production sections, jointly enhances the accuracy of layer matching

Conclusion

Core function CCL is a "ruler", providing precise depth references; Gamma is a "map" that provides the basis for stratigraphic identification and comparison. Well temperature acts as a "detective", revealing the dynamics and problems of the fluid within the wellbore.

Technical Standing: They are the most fundamental and core "three musketeers" in casing well and production logging operations. Almost all casing well monitoring and evaluation projects cannot do without one or more of them.

Value: By providing precise depth, continuous formation information and dynamic temperature fields, they offer crucial decision-making basis for the production management of oil and gas reservoirs, measure operations (fracturing, water shutoff), and downhole fault diagnosis (leak detection, diversion detection), and are key technical means to ensure the efficient and long-lasting production of oil and gas Wells.

Features: It has a simple principle, is robust and durable, and has a relatively low cost. However, it offers significant value and is a classic logging technology combination with an extremely high input-output ratio.

By combining the Well Temperature, Gamma, and CCL Tool (TGC43C), you obtain a comprehensive evaluation that runs from formation lithology and thermal-fluid distribution to cement integrity, furnishing reliable data for oil and gas exploration and development as well as geothermal utilization.
